The Block Island Inshore Fishing Match ended on Sunday, July 24 with a successful striped bass measuring 51-inches caught by workforce ‘Frayed Knot’ which was led by Capt. Richard Lipsitz of North Kingstown.
Over 90 anglers participated within the two day occasion. Capt. Chris Willi of Block Island Fishworks, match host, stated, “We doubled the variety of anglers we had final yr, and with an identical grant for Capt. Nick’s Rock & Roll Bar, we have been in a position to make a $4,350 contribution to the Block Island Volunteer Fireplace & Rescue Division.”
Capt. Willi stated, “Due to Ørsted (homeowners of the Block Island Wind Farm) and their sponsorship of the Match we have been in a position to donate one hundred pc of Match charges to the Fireplace & Rescue Division.”
Over $10,000 in prizes, reward playing cards and match swag have been awarded on the ‘After Social gathering’, which befell at Capt. Nick’s Rock & Roll Bar, Block Island on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. There was a 3 method tie for first place workforce between groups Frayed Knot, Inexperienced Mountain Boys and Grateful 5. Block Island Fishworks and Ørsted agreed to award every of the groups a $50O Visa reward card.
The Match included shore, fly fishing, youth and boat divisions. Striped bass and bluefish have been included in all divisions, plus black sea bass and fluke for boat and youth divisions. Additionally, a workforce prize with picture division prizes (taken with the Block Island Wind Farm in background) have been awarded for greatest fish, greatest scenic and greatest workforce pictures.
